TDI Decompression Procedures Instructor
This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. This program is designed as a stand-alone course or it may be taught in conjunction with such TDI courses as Advanced Nitrox Instructor, Advanced Wreck Instructor, or Extended Range Instructor.
Prerequisites:
Minimum age 18
Minimum certification of TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor or equivalent (unless Advanced Nitrox Instructor course is taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures Instructor)
Minimum certification of TDI Decompression Procedures diver or equivalent
Provide proof of 150 logged dives
Have certified 10 students in SDI Deep Diver or TDI Advanced Nitrox diver or equivalent
The objective:
This course is to train Instructors how to plan and conduct a standard decompression procedures course not to exceed a maximum depth of 45 msw. The most common equipment requirements, gear set-ups, deco-techniques and decompression mixtures are covered. Students are permitted to utilize Enriched Air nitrox mixes or oxygen for decompression provided the gas mix is within their current certification level.
Tec 45 Instructor and Tec 45 Trimix Instructor
Diving beyond recreational depths with open-circuit technical gear has allowed tec divers to discover amazing underwater wrecks and photograph never-before-seen marine organisms. Tec 45 Instructors expand tec divers knowledge and skills preparing them to explore the technical diving realm. When you earn this rating, you can conduct Discover Tec programs and teach the PADI Tec Basics, PADI Tec 40, and Tec 45 Diver courses. There is also an option to become a PADI Tec 45 Trimix Instructor.
To enroll in a Tec 45 Instructor course, you must:
- PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or higher rating)
- PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty Instructor
- PADI Deep Diver Specialty Instructor
- 25 EANx dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet
- Tec 45 Diver
- 10 decompression dives wearing full technical equipment
Prior to sending in your Tec 45 Instructor application, you must also:
- Certified 25 divers: no more than five from courses without dives, no more than five from PADI Seal Team or Master Seal Team registrations
- 150 logged dives with 20 decompression dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet
One of the following:
- Completed a PADI Tec 45 Instructor course
- Have a qualifying tec instructor rating with another organization and
- Be a PADI Tec 40 Instructor rating OR have assisted with one Tec 40 Diver course OR taught two qualifying courses
- Assisted with one Tec 45 Diver course or taught two qualifying courses
- Successfully complete the Tec 40 Instructor Exam within 12 months of application.
Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organizations may apply
Tec 45 Trimix Instructor Option
To enroll in Tec 45 Trimix Instructor, you must meet these qualifications:
- Tec 50 Trimix Diver (or higher level trimix) certification
- Minimum of 10 trimix dives
- Successfully complete the Tec Diver Trimix Instructor Course and Exam
Teaching status: PADI Tec 45 Trimix Instructors are authorized to conduct Discover Tec programs and teach PADI Tec Basics, Tec 40, Tec 40 Trimix, Tec 45 and Tec 45 Trimix Diver courses.

IANTD Technical Instructor
This Programme is designed to provide a more in-depth knowledge of EANx, Oxygen, and of technical diving applications.
Technical Instructors are charged with teaching divers to use custom blends of EANx for bottom mix, travel mixes and decompression mixes.
Technical Instructors may teach Open Water Diver through Technical Diver.
Technical Cave, Technical Wreck and Technical Rebreather Instructors are Technical Instructors with the additional ability to teach those specialized areas.
You must be:
Must be qualified as an IANTD Advanced EANx Instructor in Active Teaching Status, and IANTD Technical Diver or equivalent.
Must have taught a minimum of 3 Open Water, 3 Advanced OpenWater, 3 EANx, and 3 Advanced EANx Diver Programs.
Must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience.
Must have assisted in one course or do so as part of the IEC.
Must provide proof of a minimum of 350 logged dives, of which at least 100 were deeper than 39 msw and at least 30 were on EANx or breathing mixtures other than air (includes decompression mixes).
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
