Tec 50 and Tec 50 Trimix

As a Tec 50 diver, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to make extended range dives to a maximum of 50 metres/165 feet. You’ll know how to make dives with multiple decompression stops using two decompression gases. It’s not easy to reach this level. Earning your Tec 50 certification opens the door to deeper diving expeditions. There is also an option for divers to earn a Tec 50 Trimix Diver certification.

To enroll in the Tec 50 course, you must:
  • PADI Tec 45 Diver
  • PADI Rescue Diver*
  • Minimum of 100 logged dives or 75 hours
  • 18 years old

* If meeting this with a qualifying certification, provide proof of CPR/First Aid training within the previous two years.

Have a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months

Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organizations may apply

Tec 50 Trimix (option)

Curious about the benefits of using Trimix gas, like decreased gas density and reduced narcosis? Tec 50 divers can also learn to use trimix with not less than 21 percent oxygen and not more than 40 percent helium. This course prepares the diver to move into deeper, more complex trimix diving, such as the PADI Tec Trimix 65 and PADI Tec Trimix courses. Ask your dive instructor what additional requirements you may need to complete the Tec 50 Trimix option.

IANTD Technical Diver

This Program is designed to train divers to conduct dives to depths between (30 msw) and, at the instructors option, (51 msw) using custom blend breathing gas mixtures.

To provide greater understanding of custom blend breathing gas mixtures, a complete knowledge of the limits of any EANx mixture, and the use of EANx and oxygen for decompression. The knowledge and skills taught in this program are more than adequate to qualify divers to perform dives outside of training up (51 msw).

Prerequisites

IANTD Advanced EANx Diver or equivalent.

Age requirement must be a minimum or 18 years of age without guardian approval.

Dive experience: Open Circuit:

Proof of a minimum of 100 logged dives, of which at least 30 were deeper than (27 msw) or sufficient experience doing technical dives to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training.

How deep can you dive with the IANTD Technical Diver Program?

No dives may be conducted to depths greater than 51msw.
